Question: How can I download my images from my camera to my computer using the USB Cable? The camera does not appear as a disk drive and I cannot see the camera when I click on My Computer.
Answer: Most likely the camera is set to "Web Cam" mode.
When connected to your PC (or printer) your camera can be used:
- As a web camera (PC Cam) providing live motion video to your PC
- As a mass storage device (to download your images)
- To print directly to a compatible printer
To see the current setting for your camera follow these steps:
- Slide the function switch (to the right) to capture status:
- Turn the camera on.
- Press the mode/delete button twice:
.......until the "Date & Time Setting" appears.
- Toggle the joystick controller down several times:
..........until you see "USB Connection."
Note the current USB Connectivity (highlighted.)
- Toggle the multi-function controller to either the left or right until "Mass Storage" is highlighted.
- Press the mode button (lower right-hand of camera) to return to normal camera operations.
- Connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable.
- Turn the camera on.
- A folder containing your images should appear. If not double-click on My Computer and look for a removeable disk icon which will be assigned a drive letter - typically d, e, f, or g. This "drive letter" is actually the memory, or memory card, inside your camera.
