Subject: Image transfer to PC using USB cable -

Applies to: Models VQ5015, VQ5115, VQ5115, VQ7024

Question: How can I download my images from my camera to my computer using the USB Cable? The camera does not appear as a disk drive and I cannot see the camera when I click on My Computer.

Answer: Most likely the camera is set to "Web Cam" mode.

When connected to your PC (or printer) your camera can be used:

  • As a web camera (PC Cam) providing live motion video to your PC
  • As a mass storage device (to download your images)
  • To print directly to a compatible printer

To see the current setting for your camera follow these steps:

  • Slide the function switch (to the right) to capture status: VQ7024 function switch
  • Turn the camera on.
  • Press the mode/delete button twice: VQ7024 mode button

.......until the "Date & Time Setting" appears.

  • Toggle the joystick controller down several times: VQ7024 "joystick" type controller

..........until you see "USB Connection."

Note the current USB Connectivity (highlighted.)

  • Toggle the multi-function controller to either the left or right until "Mass Storage" is highlighted.
  • Press the mode button (lower right-hand of camera) to return to normal camera operations.
  • Connect your camera to your computer using the USB cable.
  • Turn the camera on.
  • A folder containing your images should appear. If not double-click on My Computer and look for a removeable disk icon which will be assigned a drive letter - typically d, e, f, or g. This "drive letter" is actually the memory, or memory card, inside your camera.
